German luxury car manufacturer Audi on Wednesday said it has slashed the price of its A6 range by up to Rs 2.10 lakh and will start marketing a locally assembled sedan in India by December. The company, which will also be launching the new A4 sedan in India next year, is planning to start local production of the vehicle by end of 2008 at group company Skoda's Aurangabad plant as it aims to sell about 3,000 units across its portfolio in the country by 2010.
The Centre has advised banks to make a 20 per cent reduction in expenditure related to non-core business activities, along with deferring "avoidable expenditure" on "purchase of staff cars", "refurbishment of guest houses" and on the interior decoration of administrative and back offices.
Audi sold 10,851 units last year, higher than Mercedes-Benz, which sold 10,201 units.
The Audi Q5 SUV comes in 2.0 TFSI (petrol) and 3.0 TDI (diesel) engines.
The auto firm has targeted to sell more than 50 units of the coupe this year.
The brand contributes about 40 percent to VW group earnings.
